Reflecting on an Incredible Year

As 2024 comes to an end, we’re taking a moment to reflect on the incredible journey we’ve had this year. It has been a year filled with opportunities to deepen connections, celebrate our coffee community, and build meaningful relationships. From origin trips to sharing a piece of Honduras at major coffee events, we’ve cherished every moment of collaborating with producers, roasters, and coffee lovers alike.

A Year of Growth and Impact

This year, we had the incredible opportunity to connect producers with roasters in person through our origin trips. We attended major coffee events to share the stories and coffees of our partners, strengthening existing relationships and starting exciting collaborations with new ones. We also held several cuppings in the U.S. and Europe with some of our roasting partners, expanded our repertoire of coffees, and opened a new warehouse and cupping lab to better showcase and share our offerings.

At origin, our travels across Honduras allowed us to explore its breathtaking landscapes and diverse coffees while striving to create a positive impact. Additionally, we took meaningful steps toward environmental sustainability by expanding reforestation efforts to new partners' farms and establishing a nursery to support this important work.

Our Origin Experience

This year began with exciting collaborations, both with roasters and at origin! In the early weeks of 2024, we found ourselves delving deep into the mountainous landscapes of Honduras, visiting producers to strengthen relationships and explore potential new partnerships. Two of our goals throughout our scouting were to expand our repertoire of coffees and organize an authentic origin experience for roasters.

Thankfully, we succeeded in both. We expanded our list of offerings by strengthening relationships with exceptional producers like Carlos Amaya, Bryan Bautista, and Luha & Issel while forging new partnerships with producers like Alex Portillo, Cecilia Quan, Fabio Caballero, Pedro Turcios, Francia Kilgore, Evelyn Tabora, and Alexia Mejia.

A key pillar in our mission has always been to unify our supply chain, and we’re grateful to have been able to host Rockford Roasting Co. and Happy Home Coffee in Marcala & Ocotepeque early in the year, followed by a visit from Vitality Roasting and Ember & Bean to Central Honduras and Yoro the following month.

Both trips were packed with producer and farm visits, cupping the new harvest, exploring the natural wonders of our country, and building stronger relationships across the value chain.

Later in the year, we welcomed two special guests, Tiny Footprint Coffee and Tiny Carbon, to check in on our reforestation sites and meet potential partners to further develop the project.

We’re planning to host another round of origin experiences around the harvest season, so keep an eye out for details if you’d like to join!

Reforestation

Tiny Footprint Coffee and Tiny Carbon’s visit was particularly exciting as we worked on expanding our environmental impact through regenerative reforestation. We’re grateful that both producing and roasting partners share our mission to leave a positive footprint on our planet and actively work together to make it happen.

As part of our growth, we partnered with Luha & Issel, Selin Recinos, and Cecilia Quan to extend our reforestation area and establish a tree nursery.

Among the trees we’ve planted so far are Laurel, Cortez Amarillo, Honduran Pine, Spanish Cedar, Mahogany, Walnut, Pinabete, Calliandra, and Liquidambar—with more to come in 2025!

Cima Around the World

As the year progressed, we embarked on new opportunities to showcase our partners’ coffees on international stages. Andros attended major events such as the Specialty Coffee Expo in Chicago, where we hosted cuppings featuring a wide selection of our favorite coffees. We were especially proud to share coffees from Pedro Turcios and Evelyn Tabora, two producers who accompanied us at the event and whose work inspires us to continue growing together in the years to come!

A few months later, Yair traveled to Copenhagen for World of Coffee with a group of exceptional producers, including Carlos Amaya, Bryan Bautista, Arnold Paz, and Fabio Caballero. Together, they represented Honduras and its vibrant coffee community.

Talk about great advocates for our country’s coffee gems!

In the following months, we focused on optimizing our operations stateside, moving into a new warehouse, setting up a cupping lab, and preparing for the year’s second half. These efforts were intense but we believe it’s essential to continue growing towards an even more transparent modus operandi!

Fast forward to October and we organized one of our biggest events of the year: Coffee Fest! We traveled to Minneapolis to host a memorable experience alongside a group of 10 roasters to set up a booth focused on highlighting the quality of Honduran coffees.

Each roaster brought some of our coffees to cup and brew at our pour-over and espresso bar. Additionally, we had the honor of introducing Selin Recinos to our community of roasters during the event.

In reality, Selin was the MVP at the event as he even helped build part of the booth in preparation for the event!

Days after Coffee Fest, we returned to Europe for the Barcelona Coffee Awards with Yair. Similar to our other events, we held an open cupping session and fostered connections with roasters, shop owners, and coffee enthusiasts.

As the year came to a close, we wrapped up with impactful cupping events in Chicago and at Dynamic. We partnered with Benchmark to celebrate the culmination of a year full of shared success and innovation.

Looking Ahead

As we wrap up this year, we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has been part of our journey. From the producers who pour their passion into every coffee cherry to the roasters who bring those flavors to life, we’re honored to work with such inspiring partners. Thank you for sharing in our mission to build sustainable, transparent, and impactful relationships within the coffee industry.

Here’s to an even more exciting and impactful 2025! We can’t wait to see what’s brewing ahead.
