In the highlands of La Labor, Ocotepeque, Honduras, lives Selin Edgardo Resinos, a dedicated coffee producer, steward of his family farm, Finca La Guadalupe, and one of our longest-standing producing partners.
From a young age, Selin was immersed in coffee, drawn into the legacy his family has been cultivating for over 70 years. With memories of his father and grandfather teaching him how to wash coffee by hand with rustic tools, Selin now oversees a modern operation with his wife, children and community by his side, guiding them with the same values of tradition, hard work, and pride.
Selin’s journey began humbly, but his dedication and innovation have brought his family’s coffee to new heights. Around 22 years ago, his farm participated in Honduras’s first specialty coffee competition, taking fourth place in the country. This success, alongside support from family and local coffee organizations, inspired him to explore new processing methods, add different coffee varieties, and pursue sustainable practices to keep his family’s legacy alive. His farm now boasts an array of varieties—Maragogype, Bourbon, Pacas, Typica, Villa Sarchí, and the newly planted Anacafé 14 & Gesha—all flourishing at high altitudes that Selin considers ideal for producing rich, unique flavors.
Committing to Sustainable Growth
Selin’s commitment extends beyond his farm. He co-founded COCAEER with us, a cooperative that provides local farmers with resources, training, and better market access. Through COCAEER, he promotes sustainable practices like reforestation and soil care, freely sharing knowledge to help his community grow and protect the land. He also uses byproducts from coffee processing to enrich the soil, a practice he champions within his community. Selin believes that success is shared, and he works tirelessly to improve the lives of everyone involved—from his farm’s pickers to his neighbors in La Labor.
More Than ‘Just Coffee’
To Selin, coffee is not just a livelihood; it’s a way of life. He treasures every step of the process, from milking the cows at dawn to overseeing the drying of beans. Coffee is his passion, and each season brings new opportunities to refine his craft. He’s proud to see his coffees enjoyed worldwide, a testament to the years of dedication and love poured into every bean.
Selin’s dream is for Finca La Guadalupe to thrive for generations. Already, his daughter has earned a degree in Marketing and International Business, thanks to the income from their coffee, and his son is on a similar path. By involving his children in the farm’s daily life, he instills in them a deep respect for their family’s coffee heritage. For Selin, every harvest is more than just work—it’s a legacy, one he hopes will carry his family and his community toward a brighter, more sustainable future.
As Selin says with a smile, “The passion and soul you put into every single grain of coffee makes it even more special.” It’s this passion, shared between family, friends, and neighbors, that breathes life into each cup of Finca La Guadalupe’s coffee.
