Landscapes surrounding Finca El Magueyal

Welcome to the lush coffee landscapes that we call home! Although we have relocated abroad to help spread the passion, quality, and stories behind our country's coffees, it's always a refreshing experience to come back to our family in Honduras.

It seems like every time we travel back to visit their farms, they have a new project underway, a new innovation in processing, or a new friend for us to meet. This collaborative environment has enabled us to connect with so many wonderful producers who trust us to share their coffees with people who appreciate every aspect of the farm-to-cup journey.

What We Stand For

Our country has so much to offer that defining its coffees as "specialty" does not fully capture the hard work, passion, and innovation behind the scenes. Although all of our coffees meet the industry definition of "specialty," we believe that the collaborative, traceable, and sustainable approach behind each of our beans better empowers and promotes our entire supply chain as a whole.

So, what do collaboration, traceability, and sustainability mean to us? We believe that behind every coffee, there should be a transparent and trustworthy collaboration, a story worth telling, and an opportunity to make a positive impact around us.

From the farmers who carefully produce the coffee, to the roasters who highlight their unique flavors, to the baristas who craft a delicious cup, it takes many hands to make a great cup of coffee. Our goal is to ensure sustainable and ethical practices throughout the entire supply chain, empower each other, and share our expertise to contribute to a responsible and impactful industry.

The traceability of this journey is about more than just tracking where coffee comes from; it’s about valuing those places, who grew it, and how it was produced. By having a complete understanding and involvement, we are able to source high-quality coffees that, through passion and hard work, can have a significant impact on all our partners!

In turn, sustainability is about making choices that ensure a better future for our planet and its people. When we choose ethically sourced coffee, we're not just enjoying a delicious cup of coffee, we're supporting farmers and their communities, conserving the environment, and advocating for fair labor practices.

Our Journey

So, let us explain how we take action. Although many industry professionals are already familiar with the basic outline of the seed-to-cup journey, we prefer to emphasize the stages that make this journey sustainable for all of our stakeholders:

  1. Meet The Producer: One conversation can spark a meaningful partnership. As mentioned, our goal is to create a broad impact, so we are always eager to meet new producers and collaborators.

  2. Understand Their Context: Sustainability takes various forms. Understanding a producer’s context is the first step toward sustainable growth, and fostering that relationship is crucial for long-term impact.

  3. Visit The Farm: Learn, Listen, and Experience their day-to-day. There’s no better way to appreciate and comprehend where your coffee comes from than by visiting the various regions in Honduras and immersing yourself in the daily life of coffee producers.

  4. Cup, Cup, Cup!: It’s time for quality control (and the perfect opportunity to cup a selection of our favorite coffees!) This is the time to select coffees that match the profiles our clients are seeking, from a base for their espresso blend to experimental nano lots that’ll impress anyone who tries them - we have it all!

  5. Milling & Shipping: Once we assemble our repertoire of coffees, we prepare them according to our client’s specifications and share them with our friends in the U.S. and Europe! We understand that, just like producers have unique circumstances, roaster’s situations may require specific requirements. With collaboration as one of our key pillars, we’re always eager to find solutions that better connect Honduras with the world!

  6. Collaboration Across The Supply Chain: It’s time to find the ideal market for our producing partners and work with our clients on customized logistics and offerings for their business!

  7. Enjoy and Repeat: This marks the beginning of our journey! Together, we can help elevate our industry and enjoy a great cup of coffee in the process

So, these are condensed explanations of what happens within our supply chain. At the end of the day, it all comes down to staying true to our values and building long-term relationships.

Together We Grow!

Over the years, we have seen how we have evolved alongside our producing partners and their coffees. Once upon a time, Cima worked with only two producers with the goal of promoting Honduras as an origin and helping producers become sustainable in the long run! Since then, our family has grown to include over 30 producers and collaborators who trust us with their coffees! This growth has allowed us to source and share a wider variety of coffees to meet the specific market needs and palates of our clients, thereby bridging the gap between Honduras and the rest of the world

While we are proud of the growth of our import operation over time, we are even more proud to promote Honduran coffees and the people behind each cup! To be completely honest, we consider our roles to be “Origin Promoters” rather than “Importers.”

Roasted Coffee makes it back to it’s origin: Don Orlando’s Finca Arimal.

That means that we’re not here only to buy and sell coffee; We aim to unify the entire coffee supply chain. Thanks to like-minded clients and innovative producers, we have been able to create a self-sustaining, ever-growing international community that links production, quality, and consumption.

To foster a partnership between our roasters and producers, we provide customized logistics services to both. We understand the significance of being aware of the unique circumstances of each of our stakeholders, which is why we offer tailored financing, shipping, and storage arrangements to promote their success.

A Glimpse To The Future

We cannot discuss sustainability in the long term without having a plan for the future, which brings us to one of the most exciting initiatives in our work at the origin: COCAEER!

In partnership with our producing partners, COCAEER will serve as our mill, allowing us to have a more hands-on role in the traceability, transparency, and quality of our coffees. This is a major milestone for us and our community in western Honduras building even tighter relationships with our producers

Moreover, the land surrounding COCAEER, which has been distributed among all the producers involved, has become the site of a reforestation pilot project with Tiny Carbon. Earlier this year, we planted 5,000 trees of various native species, including pine, cedar, walnut, liquidambar, and more. Our aim is to give back to the land for the coffee we receive and establish a new standard for regenerative agriculture & practices.

This is just the beginning of our journey, and we hope you will join us on this exciting ride. Feel free to reach out to us and follow us for more updates and stories!

Cheers!
